Zero Peso & a Dream


A dream is a pleasant motivational drive to keep moving forward, something to make you get up on your bed and start the new day closer to your goals. But, as we look forward to the process of our success, it cannot be denied that it is not an easy task to do. Especially if the hindrance to your success is financial incapacity. Let us discover the story of how our “Fairy-godmother”, “Coach”, and CEO of ECMJ Wedding and Events Management, Ms. Marie Masangkay, made her vision come true from only having zero pesos and a dream. With her grand academic background and intelligent ways to sell her knowledge, she started her FIRST wedding with zero peso. Just a dream and passion that drives her to who the ECMJ is.

ECMJ flourished from the ambitious vision of Ms. Marie Masangkay, the driving force behind the company. With training and experience from diverse ventures within the industry, Ms. Marie set out the wedding in Laguna and soon, beyond areas she’s used to.

Harnessing her spontaneous talents and passion, Ms. Marie consistently surpasses client expectations and embodies excellence in her field. Before embarking on her journey in wedding planning and events, she honed her skills as an Executive Assistant in various enterprises, both local and international, during her decade-long experiences in the United Arab Emirates. Her academic accolades include graduating with High Distinction from Thomson Education Direct in Pennsylvania, USA, with a degree in Accounting, and completing a diploma in New Enterprise Planning from the University of the Philippines, Open University in Los Banos, Laguna.

Her mastery of wedding planning was further refined through training with FABJOB USA and accreditation as a Certified Wedding Specialist by “Wedding Beautiful Worldwide”. Additionally, she earned recognition as an Event Designer & Stylist from “EVENTRIX USA” in 2010. In 2008, she even explored into the culinary industry, owning an Arabian & Intercontinental restaurant and catering service.

Additionally in 2012, Ms. Marie expanded her influence by providing training to aspiring wedding coordinators in partnership with “Imbitado Events”, spearheaded by Ayie C. Tuates. This collaboration birthed the ECMJ Wedding Academy, aimed at furnishing soon-to-wed couples with meticulously organized, professional, and systematic wedding coordination services for their special day. Today, a myriad of seasoned and budding wedding planners are on their journey with ECMJ Wedding Academy, taking the first stride towards delivering stress-free weddings for couples-to-be.

With a decade of expertise, ECMJ transformed dreams into realities, weaving magic into every detail. The legacy is a testament to the enduring power of love and celebration.

It was 2 months since our wedding and as I was sorting the compilation of pictures, a smile lit up my face and started to reminisce. Our wedding would not be as nice and special as it was without the help of Marie Masangkay and her contacts. I can still vividly remember when Tony’s sister Lerie referred her to us. I was a bit hesitant at first, but she prove me wrong and remove all our doubts. It was hard organizing stuff whilst away so we really needed somebody to gather the suppliers and vendors in the Philippines. Although we had already selected the photographer, videographers, church and reception venue, there were still a lot more that we needed, and Marie took away those troubles from us by providing an affordable package that includes fantastic coordinators, lovely HMUA, wonderful florist, a nice wedding car and a lot of freebies. She had shown a lot of patience and coordinated with us dutifully. She even give us a personalized bible during the wedding which we really treasure.
